Dear Dad,

When people ask me what keeps us connected, I tell them about the Fallarita. How you created your own margarita recipe which has now been passed down from children to grandchildren. The Fallarita has become a symbol of the love you brought to everyone. Its something we drink when we need a reminder of your warmth, your laugh, your smile. There was nothing more special than the time we spent together, meticulously measuring the Hornitos and your favorite grand marnier. The way we would mix each glass with intention, intention to bring joy to every person who had a glass in their hand. Now I spend April 2nd drinking a Fallarita, alone, in my apartment that you will never get to see. But with this drink in my hand, I feel the warmness you brought, the warmness I miss every day.

Good Grief

Dear Dad,

Were you happy? Were you at peace with the life you lived? Did you accomplish everything you wanted? Would you change things if you could? Do you wish you spent more time with your kids, or are you content with your time spent at work? Do you think you would have retired sooner if you knew you were going to die? Did you feel like you were running a marathon too, unable to stop? Was peace the final emotion you felt before you passed? I hope it was.
